A FCCA & MBA with over 20 years post qualification experience in all aspects of accounting and financial management in Sierra Leone, Uganda & the UK working in the public sector, Not for Profit organizations and private companies. A result driven, self-motivated and resourceful strategic leader with a proven ability to constantly challenge and improve existing processes and systems. Possessing excellent communication skills and able to build strong relationships both within and outside the finance department as well as effectively communicating financial information to non-finance colleagues. A confident team leader and motivator of staff with good influencing, networking and cross-functional abilities.

 

Ms Georgina Awoonor-Gordon- Secretary

Georgina Awoonor-Gordon – An International Development Specialist, Georgina has over 15 years’ experience in international development. She comes with strong strategic leadership experience, in addition to programme design and management.  Georgina holds a Master of Science degree in International Development, and a BSc (Hons) in Media and Society. Prior to working in international development, she worked in television production, including at the BBC.

Educated in Sierra and the UK (Studied Sociology and International Relations).

Founder member of the Sierra Leone Diaspora Network and the Sierra Leone – UK Diaspora Ebola Response Taskforce (SLUKDERT);

Experienced Senior Government Policy Advisor; Communications Professional (including broadcast and print journalism); Experienced editor (co-editor, Journal of Sierra Leones Studies, editor-in-chief, Promota Africa magazine; Consultant on African Diaspora affairs; Media commentator on African affairs.

As well as the being a Trustee of the Sierra Leone Cancer Charity (Verna Iscandari Johnson Initiative), he is a Trustee and founding member of the National Association for Peace and Positive Change (NAPPC – SL), an Ambassador for the anti-FGM charity FORWARD, a Trustee and Chairman of the African Foundation For Development (AFFORD) and Trustee of House of Caring Sierra Leone, formerly MUSAC House of Caring (UK).
